It is wise to test your email configuration prior to the Day of
Migration. Read below. If you want to test, send an email request to
technical@nova.org and request your new password.
and read some history and explanation on how to do it.
Otherwise
jump on in, read the configuration settings and go for it. Doing it
without help, is a part of the test!
DO NOT EDIT/DELETE YOUR CURRENT CONFIGURATION! You must create/add a new
account to your email client for testing.
The NVIAC postmaster recommends using the IMAP protocol, not POP.
Now is the time to switch if you are a POP
user.
We get it. The online email provider GMAIL supports only
POP to access your account. Other providers do offer IMAP.
Did
you know our web mail client supports the reading of multiple IMAP
accounts? Beat that online provider!
Email Clients we have tested include Outlook.com, Outlook 365, iCloud,
GMAIL, Thunderbird, MS-Outlook.
There should be no problems with
any mainstream, online email provider or software client.
Issues
can arise if you are using Windows 7 and it is addressed in the
configuration settings URL above.
Ensure your name and password are correct by logging into the new server
using a web client.
This is the NEW Web Mail client, the
SOGo interface. No more Squirrel Mail.
This is the link to the OLD Web Mail client, Squirrel Mail:

The login format
uses our original old format for username and password:
If you want to migrate your INBOX and folders prior to the day of
migration, you must be:
This may seem like a lot, but if you know what you are doing, it is
really very simple.
Everyone who completes testing successfully,
should request to migrate their INBOX ahead of the Day of Migration.
The migration process is not difficult. If
interested in the steps for migrating before the Day of Migration,
follow the MigrationProcess link.
On the Day
of Migration, NVIAC will copy the contents of your INBOX and folders to
the new server.
You will receive (possibly) another password, and
your email will be waiting for you on the new server.
If you want to test even more in depth and not effect your primary
personal account, a email test domain is available.
This is
helpful for the testing of sieve filters, CalDav synchronization,
WebDave synchronization, and Contact and Calendar importing.
Make
a request to technical@nova.org, and explain why you want an
additional test account.
We will set you up with an account in
the domain username@test.nova.org
